Yesterday, all the apprentices in the office have been informed for a meeting with Dr. Salmi and En Azhar. The meeting is on 11.30 am at conference room. Only Haslina missed this session bcoz she was sick. So the session begins with the introduction form Dr. Salmi. He called us here bcoz he wants to make some research on our background education including the ACCP course. He also introduce his self and Mr Azhar. He told us generally about his educational background and working experience. After that, he wants us to introduce our self one by one. All of us tell him about our highest educational and our final project. He also want to know what programming language we have used during university.

After that he has given us 2 questions which are:

1)What is the big picture that u can find when working in in-Fusion?
2)What is the different between Job and Work.

The told us to think about this question so that we can know what is supposedly we need to do in order to success on our career. The most important things are the planning for our future and the goal to be achieved.

He also ask us about what salary do we prefer if we get management trainee here?
Our overall answer is that we didn’t demand the high salary. As long as can support our life in kl, it should be ok.

Then dr salmi said that with rm 300 u can get rm 1000 per day. Many people who make a small business such as sell fruits can earn more money than other people who has a shop. To me, what dr salmi want to tell us is : It means that money is not a big factor for us to be a success people. We can get money every where but the main things is our value..the value comes from experience and u can get the experience and skill by being expose to the new things an get familiar with it. Although u failed at one time, u have increased our value…and u can find the right way to correct ur mistakes.

He said that we cannot depend anymore to the gov. because they have spend too much money for us. We need to start think the right way for career, no more theory..we already have been expose with too many theory by university and ACCP. This is the time to implement it in working field. If we need to start working from below, we should not feel embarrass on our self. Try to take it positively.

He remember what his lecturer said. It is more or less like this, “Degree is a Degree. Your are the one who responsible for ur own career”. In additional, mr azhar said that degree is not the ticket to get a job. It is u who decide u own career path. It doesn’t mean that if u have degree in it, u need to work on IT field. Like mr azhar, he took an engineering course but he didn’t work as an engineer.

If im not mistake, Mr. Azhar has asked us why we want to be employed here?he also has given us this three choices of answer that best describe us:

a)Do u want to be employed here just to fulfill ur free time since waiting for another job?
b)Do u want to be employed here so that u can apply what u have learned to other company/create ur own business?
c)Or u want to build ur career here and be the good asset to this company?

He need us to think of it.

At the end of the session, mr azhar told us, if we have any problem, feel free to meet him personally so that he can give some advice or suggestion.

Im very pleased to have a meeting with the two important people(dr.Salmi and mr.Azhar) in this company. Whatever they say, it is for ur future and company. they really hope that we can prove to them that we can do better than other people.

No one is allowed to see Mr Azhar when s/he has a problem.

I already ask u in the test to see him for a personal advice NOT for PROBLEMS u have while working under me. Those who do is "memanjat kepala boss". Do that and u will fail in later jobs, as your new boss will know about it and wont trust u.

I have advised that all problems are to be made visible. And i even allow private email or personally seeing me if u are not in agreement.

btw, when are u going to answer that test question? Why no one ask that during that meeting? When u waste time, u are wasting others time. I should charge you for wasting. So dont u dare ask me to pay u any allowance.

Just now, we(7 apprentices) have a meeting with dr salmi and mr zul. Mr zul said that we have the interview session with dr salmi. all of us gave our resume to mr zul to be reviewed by dr salmi.

the meeting is all about to discuss the apprentice achievement and the new plan for handling the apprentices starting on 1st April. First of all, Dr salmi told us that he will take over the apprentice and assigning the new task for us. he ask us what is the big issue when doing our practical training here. he noticed that english is the major problem when he ask one by one about this matter and the second one is lack of confidence. He suggest that we need to learn english for special purpose such as english in banking, english in IT and so on. he also give some example on how to implement it : let say we will be sent to one hotel and make a research on the conversation between employee and client. then we will learn what vocabulary as well as english level that he/she use and try to implement it.

after that, he asked us about our previous and present task that been assigned to us. He informed to us that we need to finish up all the task by this week bcoz he want to assign new task based on our strength and skill. He asked each one of us what we r good at. he needs to know so that we can focus on one field during practical training. once we tell about our capability, we need to struggle for the rest of our practical training. he want us to choose which field that we can do better during this peroid of time and if we can show the good progress, then we will get a management training.

at first i can't decide what i need to choose. i ask the dr salmi permission to give us a time to think about this and he said that there is no time since we were given so much time to think about this before. then we all choose what we think we r good at. dr salmi try to ask everyone again to make sure we r making the right choice of it. the result is:

1) i will go for Multimedia Programming and will be sent to content solution for training. Kenaz will mentor me for flash action script.

2) Affarina and Wan Sapinah - Database. They will be working at IWC to setup student database.

3) Haslina and Saipol - Networking. Mr Nizam will mentor them for this field.

4) Azrul - PHP Programming. He will be working with Mr Shamsul and Mr Saiful.

To the apprentices, if there is any mistake in this post, or u have our own tot or I miss something, pls update this thread.

Actually, I have 2 choices - Multimedia Programming and Java Programming. Im not really good in this two fields. When trying to decide, im thinking which one I can give my best performance for the less than 1 month. When I compare my experience for each field, I think that I will proceed to Multimedia programming since I have 3 years exposure on multimedia and I learn java only at ACCP. I hope that i have done the right thing when choosing the field bcoz I still in the programming field. The difference is I will work on action script. One thing fore sure, I will try to manage my time until one day, I’ll be master in java.. and I hope that I still be one of the team in University projects.

Hemm...about the task assign by Dr. Salmi, only me have to work with Madam Haliza (IWC's Snr Exec. Admin & Student Affairs) starting from tomorrow while Affarina will start early next month. She have to finish up UAT Amres first for this week before involve for the database task. Not only Affarina, Saipol also need to finish up Mecca setup at home for a week, Julie..to finish up I-Stop portal, Azrul with his K-Force and Haslina with her Pre-Preview.

I'm not sure I must working at IWC's office for the whole next month or can do my job from home (just go there once a week or as order by Madam Haliza). I hope I can do the given work from home because the place is far away from my rent house right now. I'll discuss about that with Madam Haliza tomorrow.

* For the next month, maybe I'll move to Haslina's rent house...nearest with IWC.

I want to add something here...refer to Julie's wrote about what Dr Salmi talk about English conversation...He told that, even though we sit in Hotel for a whole day, what we will hear is just same with the conversation that we daily heard in TV, Radio or somewhere else. He also told that we already learnt English for about 16 month, starting from 'Tadika' but still can't communicate(speak english)...We are OK in writing, reading, listening and understanding English but not in speaking. Hemmmm....I also confuse why I can't speak English? Ashame to practice at home or with friends? Yup, I think thats the matter. As Dr. Salmi said, "Are you afraid if somebody behind you angry or ashame be your friend because your English spoken is bad?". So, what my other friends opinion?

Thats all. Thank you.
