Can you please tell me what material transaction code I use to input opening balances of inventory with their respective values? This would be needed when we set up fresh for an exisitng company. I tried using the GL journal and input the product codes and the quantities but while the values got updated the quantities in the products did not.

I m not really sure as i havent done this first hand.
U may have to study the import inventory feature in Compiere/ADempiere. I believe offhand that it should resolve movement qtys into the locators.
About costing the products in there, u may use a fictitous vendor to purchase the goods in so that it ends up as accounts' opening balance. Try searching the forums for some more similar points.
