Hi Faizal,
Can u elaborate more on what is your vision. From what we discuss last time, i need to know if its more of a culture tool or technical tool to manage ppl's ideas. Cos as i said, its the culture that precede the tools.

As the famous saying, "Necessity is the mother of all invention" So the question is, "Is there such a necessity for such a tool?" especially when there is no culture that demands it.

In Malaysia there is low creative spirit nor innovative thinking, as compared to others in this category. Everyone merely consumes others' ideas. We merely good at parroting what others say or do.

For instance look at our World Cup chances. Pratically nil cos our players cannot think at that level. Its not the physicallity. Its not the spirit. Its the mind. If the thinking is explosive then the tools to manage it will sound logical. Or are u anticipating an explosion? Very Happy

We should think global. It should be a global culture. Multi-national companies are all aware about these secret.s The five areas of innovation management are:
• Innovation strategy. This includes communication of the role of innovation within a company, deciding how to use technology and driving performance improvements through appropriate performance indicators.

• Creativity and ideas management. Stimulating good ideas, which address customer requirements, is crucial. Since innovation includes new products, services and processes, the scope for ideas is wide and therefore all employees should be involved.

• Portfolio management. Once ideas have been generated, an efficient process is needed to choose the best ones for implementation. Resources are always limited, so they should be focused on the priorities. Leading companies ensure that their innovation portfolio contains a good balance of new products, processes, and business and service innovations.
• Project management. The capability to quickly turn ideas into new products, services and processes is fundamental. Fast time-to-market, high product quality and acceptable development costs are all typical goals for companies. The most common way of achieving these goals is to use cross-functional teams, but problems often occur. However, post-project reviews are seldom used to identify areas for improvement.

I was always think that innovation is unmanageable. Once my boss told me that, "red1... how do i manage u? the answer is I WONT!"

Most ppl dont like to manage, or leave it to others. They dont even wana write or file an important report, or finding... somehow we have to wait for a technology that can pick up our brain waves and do all those un-zen work for us.

Open Source or community forums is perhaps the pragmatic way to gather some like mindedness ppl... and that starts with an important character, The Willingness to Contribute. That is more important than been a genius but doesnt share.

Thats what i gather from the debate between Linus Trovalds and that Professor he copy his linux from. Linus argues that even if his codes were not so good or OO as the Prof said, its more important that it sparked a revolution.

So here i recount 2 of Linus most important mantra:

1) Publish early, update often

2) Show me the codes
