I've just been thinking about it and I can't think of one reason why anyone would need to build the compiere source code for a compiere implementation since compiere supply the compiled files together with source code (CVS tree).

The java classpath together with the customized and additional classes are used to override and customize the base code.

To think how many hours ... days we spent building source code.

Here in computer land we can spend literally forever going up the wrong path. The people in the know won't bother explaining or mentioning that we're being stupid. The problem is that they consider this knowledge their intellectual property and commercial advantage (I'm just guessing now) or maybe they just never heard of red1.

Who knows
