#adempiere on freenode.net server (mIRC)

Postby goanookie » Sun Sep 10, 2006 6:20 am

Hi All,

I took the liberty of creating #adempiere on freenode, untill there is a decent cooperative platform, irc is also a way of communicating and frankly very handy to ask a quick question also.

Hi PeteDZut,
Can u tell me more about freenode or give a link to look at? Do conversations get stored for archiving and reference purposes?

Thanks and best regards

Hi Red1,
freenode is just another irc network http://freenode.net. You only need a irc client xchat on linux or mirc on windows. Some webclient chats do allow to make a connection to another server just type /server irc.freenode.net to make a connection to that irc server. Once connected type /join #adempiere.
About storing the conversations for archiving and reference, that can be done very quick. I just have to add a bot who takes care of logging and storing, and that bot also can create statistics of that chatroom.

Regards
Peter

Great!
I have MIRC client. Leave some instructions here then on how to get to that chat. And BOT too.

But it will be good to maintain heavy transparent visibility via forum or blog mode as its now and hopefully IRC dont make us too nerdy and secluded :D

Irc is great as a fast backdoor to the community, without the overhead of fora or wiki's, and above all, most opensource projects just have an irc room :D

About MIRC only 2 commands away from #adempiere

/server irc.freenode.net
/join #adempiere

Hi, do you know about some free IRC client for windows (mIRC = US$20).

I see http://sourceforge.net/projects/airc is discontinued.

i should always be logged in at this irc chat room when i m online. U should see my registered nick there, besides probably a sleeping Goanookie, or the other way round, depending on the time zone, or "haha" our sleeping habits :D

But dont expect me to reappear so quickly at times, as i m actually a real human and tend to wander around the real world.

U can send me a private email if there is any concern. That will be red1@red1.org.
