Unrealised Currency Gain/Loss Report

Postby cooldog » Sat Sep 11, 2004 2:09 pm

I have come up with this report to satisfy one of the clients request. So I thought I should share it with the community.

It allow users to check/calculate the exchange gain/loss in the given period.
It will show invoice, cashbook and bankstatement gain losses.

Do take note that the period end rate can be keyed into a specify conversion type which can be chosen during the generation of the report. The excahnge rate have to be valid to the last day of the period.

Any comments and suggestions are welcome.

The unrealised currency report is something that's lacking in Compiere even up to 2.51e.

Based on my limited accounting knowledge, i know that this report is generated based on the currency difference in the 3 area.

1. Open/Unpaid Invoice (both Vendor and customer)
2. Cash Balance (Net balance DR amt - CR amt)
3. Bank Balance

at the end of the period.

As such currency difference will arise when the currency predefined in the accounting schema is difference from the source currency of the above 3 area.

Cooldog's brilliant consideration of Compiere multi-accounting schema architecture allows the report to be feasible for multiple currency accounting schema.

User can use the result of the unrealised exchange gain/loss to post into the books via GL Journal. If the currency difference is significant in the next revaluation period based on the report result, user can reverse the previous period GL journal and key in the new unrealised difference.

Hope fellow Compiereians can share their work/experiences in solving business problems.

Hi Enrique,
You can certainly download from the link above into windows! Try it, then explode them into a folder, and you can follow the contents to get the idea. You will need a programmers help if you arent familiar.

What cooldog done is amazing as it resolves real-life needs though he is a techie in embedded technology!

Good luck! 8)
