Productivity tools for Linux and Compiere (and Windows too)

aqua data studio - sql queries, import data
iSQLViewer - good potential but seems to have bugs with import/export
XML etc.
eclipse - of course, the java IDE
mail - thunderbird
browser - of course, firefox
henplus - command line query tool like sqlplus but a real gem
realplayer - audio stimulation
kate - text editor of choice
knowit - notes in a hirearchical structure
kdissert - just looked at it now but worth a mention looks so promising
html editing - open for suggestions - nothing yet
vmware - run windows on linux - can we really be productive without windows?

Anyone got any other good apps they use that help productivity?

Here is my version in Windows:

1) Notepad (nothing else works for me)

2) DOS prompt (when nothing else really works for me)

3) F1 (cool man, its just the button, not that racing cartel)

All I can think of to say to Red1's list of tools: scary!

Just on another topic I'm a big Linux fan but it was a lot of sweat and tears and lost productivity but I don't look back, best decision I made. However I'm still using Vmware and I think it is a good bridge to help ease the transition, and it is a brilliant piece of software IMHO

Good shot Neil, but in order to be more usefull for Compiere we have some modidifcations for Druid .

I hope to publish them soon.

But i found that Druid has one major problem. Once defined tables and columns i can create only SQL for only one Database server, for example only for Oracle. Or at least i do not know how to create SQLs for other DBs.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Aqua Data Studio has moved to the top of my list of DB tools and surpasses Tora . It actually executes PL/SQL without having oracle on your machine, that has been a big problem for me for a while.

Yes, I use most recent version. The problem is that sql type remmaping is not working, or at least i didn't managed to use it.
"SQL type mapping" is located in "Generation"--> modules -->""Sql Script"

MS-Access (using the oracle client, and ODBC) of course a winner. If you're on linux, combine it with VMWare. Feels like selling out but productivity in a tight spot - no brainer.

Kdissert is fast becoming one of those apps I use on a daily basis. You can find it on http://wwww.kde-apps.org . You create documents which look like one of those maps people use at university when studying a complex subject. Use it for flowcharts, todo lists, etc.

Suggestion if you do try it: download the version directly from kdeapps, don't go to the home page. The one on the home page is a bit older and I experienced some crashes until I upgraded,

Also have a problem moving notes around with clicking and dragging. Have solved it by changing the shortcuts 'alt-arrow' to move , to just 'arrow' (for each of the arrow keys, up, down , left, right)
