Thomas Bayen has helped setup a new wiki here http://wiki.idempiere.org/wiki/

Thomas Bayen together with Thomas Thiessen are the main German wiki writers at http://www.adempiere.com in recent months.

Dominik Zajac has told me in the irc chatroom last night that Atlassian has tools such as http://www.atlassian.com/software/confluence/overview which looks really cool to use in this wiki.

I also hope it is easy to integrate the iDempiere apps via the HELP icon to HELP screens from this wiki.

Carlos Ruiz may be contributing the most via smart scripts as he has done previously with http://www.adempiere.com/index.php/Manual

At the moment he is busy making tests and bug fixes for the first release of OSGi ADempiere http://demo.idempiere.com

Please update your bookmarks and work to the new wiki link.

The wiki is good news. I've created an account on it. Any ideas of the structure or should we just fill the wiki and structure as we go?

The top guys wish to proceed without rules and i am all for whatever they say. We are all acting based on merit, trust and wisdom of the past, hope for the better future. For contributors like yourself, breathe easy, and as you wished - you may then fill up as you go.

Daniel, we're discussing on IRC and other channels for a proper structure, and Thomas is thinking and researching about how to make it work with multiple languages (if wikifarm or namespaces or folders).

But I think if you have docs to contribute please go ahead, the wiki admin will move them to appropiate position when the structure is clearer.

About rules, we're thinking on a possible structure for peer review (but is still a very draft idea), and the most important thing we're discussing is to try to keep the wiki for functional/technical documentation, and avoid political usage of such wiki, and also perhaps we'll try to control the usage for just marketing purposes not backed by proper contributions.

Regards,

Carlos Ruiz

It is better to have marketing via word of mouth rather than use our community assets. A community project must be absolutely free from commercial interests.

I actively spread the names of the top contributors in every country i visited. Do not take my word for it. Ask the audiences or you wait till people write to you of what they hear.

Today the wiki made a big technical step. I upgraded the software to the newest available version and divided the wiki into a real wikifarm. We can begin to create localized pages in different subwikis. We have InterLanguageLinks like Wikipedia has. My proposal would be:

* http://wiki.idempiere.org/wiki/ - for acount creation, project organization and developer stuff
* http://wiki.idempiere.org/en/ - english user manual
* http://wiki.idempiere.org/de/ - german user manual
* ... feel free to ask for other languages. I will be glad to integrate it if someone wants to care for content

My opinion is: Do not discuss about structure, create it!

WDYT?

Thomas

And what happened to my previous pages? Do I discuss about it or re-create it? :)

When creating a new user at the wiki it returns a SQL error but creates the user. But when modifying anything in the wiki it fails and returns the error:

Original exception: exception 'DBQueryError' with message 'A database error has occurred. Did you forget to run maintenance/update.php after upgrading? See: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:U ... ate_script
Query: COMMIT
Function: DatabaseBase::commit
Error: 1 ERROR: insert or update on table "revision" violates foreign key constraint "revision_rev_user_fkey"
DETAIL: Key (rev_user)=(24) is not present in table "mwuser".

Sorry for the delay. There was still a bug in the wikifarm-configuration. It should work now.

If not please contact me direct at tbayen -at- bayen.de.
