ACIS Award for the development of Free Software
The engineer Carlos Antonio Ruiz, won the top prize of the Colombian Association of Systems Engineers-ACIS-with his work "ADempiere." Award given yesterday March 30, 2011.
Bogotá. Colombia. With the participation of several defined projects delivered the winner of the ACIS 2010 Free Software development.
The Board, welcomed the proposal of the jury and selected the paper presented by Mr. Carlos Antonio Ruiz, with his work "ADempiere," as the ultimate winner. The project originated in 2006 as a fork of Compiere work, which had a wide popularity among the free software community. Since its inception, the project has had ADempiere wide acceptance among the community, as somehow "inherited" the popularity of its predecessor, the interest in the project in the free software community shows that it is a work wide acceptance and participation of a sizeable community of 130 developers from many countries.
The Colombian Association of Engineer-Systems-ACIS, ACIS has instituted the award to the development of Free Software in order to encourage Colombian Engineers Systems development and participation in free software projects that result in higher quality, strengthening and competitiveness of the Colombian software.
ACIS Award to Free Software development is awarded to the person or group of individuals in Colombia living in Colombia or abroad, demonstrating a significant contribution to participation and a free software project duly registered with the SourceForge website.
The ACIS Award for the Development of Free Software was made by the Board of Directors of the Association, on the recommendation of the Jury consists of: Ricardo Marulanda Valencia, Jorge Mario Calvo Londoño, María Consuelo Franky Toro, Ricardo Jorge Naranjo Faccini and Nieto Barrientos.
The award was granted yesterday March 30, 2011 in the framework of the Ordinary General Assembly of the Colombian Association of Engineers-Systems-ACIS at a meeting of the Assembly.
