Postby red1 » Mon Dec 12, 2011 1:05 pm

THE FOLLOWING IS #IDEMPIERE IRC CHAT LOG WHILE A LIVE PHYSICAL CLASS WAS ONGOING IN KREFELD, GERMANY CONDUCTED BY RED1. A PROJECTOR WAS USED TO SHOW SITES, LINKS CONTENT AND STEPS, NOT RECORDED ON CHAT. RED1 ALSO SPOKE AT LENGTH ON MANY MATTERS WHEN ASKED BY THE ATTENDEES. SOMEHOW HENGSIN WAS AROUND IN THE CHATROOM AND HE JOINED IN REMOTELY FROM MALAYSIA. SMILIES OR EMOTICONS FROM THE LOGS WERE DISABLED DURING PASTING HERE (SOME BUG).

[11:18am] peter_: yesterday i installed a adempiere distribution from sourceforge: no script RunServer is in it
[11:18am] red1: no script? hmmm
[11:18am] red1: u mean RUN_Server2.sh?
[11:18am] red1: its in utils/ ...
[11:18am] red1: it does not matter which version..
[11:19am] red1: its the same
[11:19am] red1: not declared released
[11:19am] red1: to me its quite OK
[11:19am] peter_: I took Adempiere 3.7.0-LTS
[11:21am] red1: let me look into the source now..
[11:22am] tbayen: I have a working copy of 3.70 here with some playing code of my own in an own eclipse project by me
[11:23am] red1: for tbayen purpose.. i think the carlos ruiz page is good

[11:44am] tbayen: Hello Pluecki I do notices and try to collect links on http://www.lug-kr.de/wiki/ADempiereVortragVonRed1
[12:01pm] hengsin: hi red1
[12:01pm] red1: hi..
[12:02pm] hengsin: I did updated the idempiere wiki page yesterday with more info
[12:02pm] hengsin: and add lin to the setup guide by banym, very well written
[12:02pm] hengsin: lin = link
[12:02pm] red1: you mean this http://kenai.com/projects/hengsin/pages/Home
[12:02pm] a42niem left the chat room.
[12:03pm] hengsin: http://hg.idempiere.com/idempiere/wiki/Home
[12:03pm] hengsin: at the moment, you would a union of the two
[12:03pm] red1: didiber: we will look at the webstore shortly
[12:05pm] hengsin: red1, I saw your conversation on pci compliance and ecommerce
[12:05pm] red1: yes… i referred that guy to the tracker
[12:05pm] hengsin: the payment gateway we inherited from compiere is not fully pci compliance. for ecommerce, magento is the safe choice.
[12:05pm] red1: i c
[12:06pm] red1: Ivan Calderon is doing magento integration project next month… he wrote me… i can forward u the email
[12:07pm] red1: ah.. i already did that
[12:07pm] hengsin: the latest trend now is to store the customer's payment info ( cc and billing address ) at the payment gateway and you use a token to transact.
[12:07pm] red1: for myDBA83 http://www.testadempiere.com/admin/
[12:14pm] didiber: hengsin: i think we should use the web store in idempiere bec. it have the power backend from idem.. and need only to design it.
[12:29pm] hengsin: didiber - yes but huge task
[12:29pm] hengsin: and u need content management
[12:30pm] hengsin: integration with magento is actually much less work
[12:30pm] red1: hengsin.. showing your ajax UI now...
[12:31pm] red1: the Printformat display order… how do we select multiple items to move around like in the Java client?
[12:32pm] red1: btw didiber u already expert with Magento.. might as well u continue..
[12:56pm] didiber: hengsin: wath you think cms = http://www.jahia.com/cms/home.html and the web store idemp.. ?
[1:02pm] didiber: i want a solution for the future.
[1:03pm] hengsin: red1, try shift or ctrl + click
[1:04pm] red1: i c…because one click and it is removed…
[1:04pm] red1: will try your suggestion now
[1:04pm] hengsin: didiber, yes, by all means but we need to set the expectation right for how it is now.
[1:07pm] red1: yep.. hengsin you are right… shit + click works
[1:07pm] red1: shift!
[1:08pm] hengsin: not sure about jahia but there quite some opensource cms available
[1:09pm] hengsin: another big issue with the integrated web store is performance, online user and internal user competing for the same db resources is no fun
[1:09pm] didiber: ok, i mean is only a exampel. like use a cms out ther in java and just integate it in adempiere.
[1:09pm] hengsin: oh red1, shit + click would be epic!
[1:10pm] red1: t first i typed shit + cick….
[1:10pm] red1: sorry for the typo!
[1:11pm] hengsin: no problem, blame the language
[1:12pm] tbayen: hengsin, didiber: it is a matter of performance sharing and also a matter of security. There are many reasons to decouple the webstore from the erp.
[1:13pm] didiber: hengsin: i like use idemp. in the backend and have not so mutch run on the server like mysql + php and so on. this is great. and this solution will have many feedback for the projekt.
[1:15pm] didiber: so is also a good idea to use point of sale as stand alone web store just design it
[1:16pm] hengsin: it could be but pos is huge difference from web store
[1:16pm] hengsin: pos is control environment operated by a cashier
[1:16pm] hengsin: webstore is by user and have much bigger scalability requirement and much more unpredictable - u never know when shit will happen
[1:17pm] red1: i am now explaining to the class what hengsin is doing with the 2Pack.. the use of UUID
[1:17pm] didiber: so in this way the user is the cashier. need a nice catalog view only and a step by step interface
[1:38pm] didiber: hengsin: wath is better give so many bosib...?
[1:41pm] red1: hengsin: i just told them about the 2Pack… in OSGi META-INF auto realisation… as a true example of a plugin --- but i not sure how do you plug out? That means 'removing your 2Pack or component'
[2:08pm] hengsin: red1, rollback/uninstall of pack in is not fully implemented, still a problematic area
[2:08pm] red1: yep… it is quite difficult even to think about it
[2:09pm] hengsin: yeah, red1, uuid is a big step forward for 2pack and replication
[2:10pm] hengsin: didiber, I think magento + idempiere is a nice combination for ecommerce. for pos, it can be an integrated solution, there is a lot less variable and scability requirement compare to web store.
[2:11pm] hengsin: idempiere have restlet embedded and there is the 3e webservices thing so you already got quite a lot of integration option available for external web store or pos
[2:23pm] hengsin: red1, how's the response for the OSGi class ? I guess that's a great way to plan the seed.
[2:23pm] hengsin: plan = plant
[2:24pm] red1: yeah… peter_ here is also a java dev and myDBA83 is DB guy… tbayen is business owner with java swing experience… so i guess we cna get into it
[2:24pm] red1: i am showingthe PG plugin atm… to get some basic idea
[2:31pm] red1: hengsin: showing them the ss console of the OSGi… can the so called hot deploy (remove / activate) of components work here?
[2:31pm] red1: in your iDempiere
[2:31pm] red1: ?
[2:32pm] hengsin: it probably should but I haven't test much
[2:34pm] hengsin: make sure you show the event example, that's an interesting alternative way of doing model validator without touching the db
[2:35pm] red1: hm… wish i am this good
[2:35pm] red1: ok i will try
[2:36pm] hengsin: http://kenai.com/projects/hengsin/pages/EventManager
[2:36pm] hengsin: there's an example in the project, "event.test" project
[2:37pm] hengsin: you have to manually import that project into your workspace
[2:37pm] hengsin: finally, all the existing extension point is documented here - http://kenai.com/projects/hengsin/pages ... tReference
[2:37pm] hengsin: could be a useful read after the class
[2:41pm] red1: we are all reading it now ..
[2:42pm] tbayen: You are giving the links faster than we can read.
[2:47pm] tbayen: hengsin: when would you recommend using the osgi version for my new erp implementation? Am I doing wrong using the legacy ADempiere now?
[2:48pm] You left the chat by being disconnected from the server.
[2:51pm] You rejoined the room.
[2:51pm] You were promoted to operator by ChanServ.
[2:51pm] tbayen: hengsin: We are now leaving. Nice greetings from red1 (he has closed his computer already) Thanks for staying with us and giving us some time!
[2:51pm] red1_: yes.. bad manners of me
[2:51pm] red1 left the chat room. (Read error: No route to host)
[2:51pm] You are now known as red1.
[2:51pm] tbayen: liar!
[2:51pm] red1: thanks hengsin .. they appreciated this OSGi alot
[2:52pm] red1: arhhh
[2:52pm] red1: what did u call me???
[2:52pm] tbayen:
[2:52pm] red1: we are adjourning this class.. back to the cold walk back to tbayen house and cook steam fish for his wife
