1. Install tool to access the database (eg:Toad)
2. Search for tnsnames.ora files. The file is located at C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
3. Content of the file is as follows. Change the 'HOST' to an ip of the database server.
Code: Select all
# tnsnames.ora Network Configuration File: C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
# Generated by Oracle configuration tools.

COMPIERE =
  (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.0.234)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SERVER = DEDICATED)
      (SERVICE_NAME = compiere)
    )
  )

EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
  (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
      (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SID = PLSExtProc)
      (PRESENTATION = RO)
    )
  )

4. Open Toad and logon by keying the database name, username and password.
